November

First of all, here are some cute pictures of Celeste and her many fans:

The kids played in a concert at their piano teacher's house, which was Evan's first recital experience.  He did a great job, and hardly seemed nervous at all!

Costco is the best bookstore.

We got rid of the pumpkins after only five days.  In most parts of the country, I think this level of decay would take at least a full week.

Corinne drew a wonderfully flattering picture of me, and Evan decorated the pumpkin he picked from his potted vine.

On the way down to a friend's baptism in Orange County, we stopped to see this full-size replica of the Tabernacle.  Apparently the youth in the stake built it for Youth Conference, and it was pretty cool.  It even had a video presentation at the beginning, that helped the kids know what they were looking at.

A week before Thanksgiving, we headed up to visit my family in Utah.  We stopped at Pioneer Park for a break, as usual.

We spent almost a full week playing games, baking stuff, and hanging out.  Grandma and Grandpa got acquainted with Celeste, Evan practiced rollerblading, and there was enough snow to convince my kids they'd had some early winter.

The neighbor's goat was loose again.

The whole trip, Celeste thought this toy parrot was her soulmate.

Ryan flew up to join us a couple of days before Thanksgiving.  One afternoon we showed the kids around BYU, and Ryan felt they needed the experience of listening to a lecture in the JSB.  I'm not sure why we didn't get kicked out of there.

Corinne's New Family

My mom bought all the ingredients and decorations to make "turkey" sugar cookies.  None of the kids stuck to the proper theme, but they were very creative!

Kevin and Liz made really nice-looking Turkey Cookies!

Thanksgiving Day was really nice.  Kevin and Liz stayed in Nephi the night before, so they were able to come to my mom's house pretty early, and Kyle and Kelli and their family spent the day there, too.  The cousins spent a lot of time making silly video trailers on iMovie.  My kids made "thankful tree" style collages of the things they're grateful for.  Corinne probably used up as many leaves as the rest of them put together.  Dinner was, of course, lovely, and it was fun to see Grandma Cloe meet her namesake and sing her baby-bouncing song!

Mom bought new dishes for the occasion.

Margaret Cloteel and Celeste Margaret

I wasn't feeling too great on Thanksgiving Day, which I at first blamed on lack of sleep and postpartum depression, but when I spiked a fever that night I realized I was coming down with mastitis.  On the way back from the Nephi Clinic the next morning, I had to stop while a herd of sheep passed me going the opposite direction on the highway.  These were the same sheep that kept escaping from the field across from my mom's house the previous week - I recognized the black one with a bell!

We thought we were so smart, driving home through Vegas on Saturday instead of Sunday, but apparently eveyone else had the same idea, because traffic was as bad as I've ever seen it!
